Disabling prefiltering of columns with microsoft analysis services XMLA

Answered
Dominik asked on October 30, 2022

Hello,

I saw that there is a field on the 'options' object called 'showAllFieldsDrillThrough' but it seems it doesn't work, i.e. disable the prefiltering, with ssas XMLA. I've noticed among the existing tickets that you've mentioned this should work with SSAS Accelerator - should this work with XMLA as well and if not is there another way to do it?

Hello, Dominik!

Thank you for raising a ticket.
Kindly note that the showAllFieldsDrillThrough property is unavailable with XMLA. We recommend using the Flexmonster Accelerator for using this property as well as for using some other features that are currently not supported with XMLA. You are welcome to check our Flexmosnter Accelerator starter guide for more information about installation and usage.
Please let us know if using Flexmonster Accelerator would work for your use case.

Best Regards,
Maksym

Hi Maksym,

Thank you for answering. Can you confirm that the accelerator supports .NET 6 when used as a DLL?

Hi, Dominik!

Thank you for your quick reply.
Flexmonster Accelerator is written on .NET Framework, which is incompatible with .NET 6.0. However, you can still use Flexmonster Accelerator as a Windows Service. Could you please tell us if using the Accelerator as a Windows Service could be a viable option for you? Also, our team would highly appreciate it if you provided us with more details about your use case.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Maksym

Using it as a Windows Service is not the best option for us. I was wondering since the generated query to the Analysis Services Server, using XMLA, is returning the column as a blank field. Meaning, there is no filtering being done there yet, but rather the prefiltering is done in Javascript, or so it seems to me. Is there no way to just turn it off there?

EDIT:
Nevermind the comment about Javascript, I realize now it is related to how analysis services returns results. My mistake.

Hi, Dominik!

Thank you for updating the comment.
We checked the drill-through behavior on our test SSAS data source with XMLA, and it returned the full set of fields. Therefore, we believe that the reason behind fields being filtered on the drill-through popup can be the configuration of Microsoft Analysis Services, as you have noticed. We suggest checking this Microsoft guide for more information.
Please let us know if changing the cube's settings worked for you.

Maksym

Hello, Dominik!

Hope you are doing well.
We are wondering if you were able to disable the drill-through prefiltering by changing the cube settings.
Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Maksym

Hi Maksym,
We did not manage to solve it by configuring the server. The requests and responses are going through our proxy server and we modified it there. The request to return the schema data and the response to add in the missing columns.
