How to enable layout to be in print format

Resolved
Chern Yu Zi asked on August 8, 2024

Hi,

I would like to ask whether if Flexmonster supports the feature to enable the pivot table to be in print layout (load all rows or columns even if out of visible screen estate, ie. no vertical or horizontal scrollbars) as the current Print Image function only prints what is visible on the screen.

Thank you.

Hello, Chern!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Please note that the behavior with image export showing only the visible part of the grid is intended to work this way, mainly to preserve a readable scale. To make more data fit into the single visible screen, we suggest the following options:

Exporting to image from a fullscreen: Opening Flexmonster into fullscreen mode provides significantly more space for a grid, allowing a few additional rows and columns to fit into an image. Setting a smaller page scale would affect this approach, allowing it to fit even more data.

PDF export with a large page format: While exporting to PDF, it is possible to set the pageFormat parameter to make the exported sheet larger up to A0. This would make it possible to fit whole data into a single page without scroll. You are welcome to check the example: https://jsfiddle.net/flexmonster/uhdqzvwy/

HTML export with decreased page scale: Another solution for fitting the whole grid data without the scrollbar would be to export to HTML. When opened, you can reduce the scale of the whole page to make a whole HTML document visible.

While these approaches might be helpful for a relatively small volume of data, their efficiency is limited when the data exceeds approximately a hundred rows. However, for greater volumes of data, scrolling through data is the only viable option to keep a readable scale.

Please let us know if one of the described solutions works for you.

Best Regards,
Maksym

Hi Maksym,

Thanks for the response.

The proposed solutions don't seem to match what we need - as we cannot foretell how many rows there will be in the table (and thus to what scale we'd need to scale the page down to; PDF is not what we are looking to extract as well, we need an image from the html rendered).

Will this feature be included the future development roadmap for flexmonster?

Thanks!

Hello, Chern!

Thank you for your reply.

In addition to the concerns from our previous reply about the readability of data from an image with many columns and rows, another technical limitation exists. The <canvas> element's size, which is used for the image export, is restricted to 10000x10000 pixels. If implemented, such a feature would not work consistently depending on the grid size. Hence, we are not planning to implement this feature in the near future.

As a workaround, we suggest using the HTML export. The HTML file with a grid can then be rescaled to fit all data on the screenshot.

Please let us know if any further questions arise.

Best Regards,
Maksym
