Hi,
I have a couple of questions about the way the data is displayed on the grid and on the charts. We are using MSAS OLAP cubes as datasource, so:
Thanks.
Hello,
Thank you for your questions.
We would like to explain that both points (points 1 and 2) can't be achieved with only a single hierarchy.
This is because at the moment it is not possible to omit mid-levels in a single hierarchy.
We kindly suggest adding separate hierarchies like Date.Year
, Date.Quarter
, Date.Month
, etc.
An example of such a structure can be seen on our MS Analysis Services demo (through the Fields List > Date
> Calendar
): http://www.flexmonster.com/demos/js/connect-ssas/
Taking the above suggestion into consideration, the desired outputs can then be achieved:
1) It is possible to just select the fields you would like to display on the grid (this way unwanted ones will be omitted). By placing them in the rows
section in the slice
one after another, you can define in which order the data will be aggregated.
2) The desired chart output can be achieved due to separate level fields being present.
We have prepared a JSFiddle example for illustration: https://jsfiddle.net/flexmonster/fas8m75z/
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
Vera
Ok, with point 2) I was already afraid that the suggested solution was the only way to achieve what we want, but I wanted to ask you anyway in case there was another way of doing it.
About point 1), do you plan to add this feature in the future? We have changed the component we were using until now (a very old one: Microsoft Web Components) for yours, and our customers could do this before. It's not critical but it would be nice to know if you have plans to change this (allow removing mid levels in a hierarchy).
Thank you Vera.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
Please kindly note that at the moment such an option is not included in our road map.
Here is why we suggest using the approach suggested above.
You are welcome to write to us in case of further questions.
Best Regards,
Vera
