I have a separate related bug for keyboard navigation. When showHeaders is false and the layout is in flat view, it is possible to navigate outside the shown range by going all the way to the left via the arrow keys.
Take this example:

It is possible to keyboard navigate all the way to the left such that the selected cell disappears. It appears to be principally the same issue as noted above, as it is simply the selection not recognizing it is hitting an element with a width/height of 0.
