Handling Large CSV Files in Flexmonster with Chrome Memory Limitations

Answered
Leo Chan asked on March 5, 2024

Dear Flexmonster Team,

I tried to pass a ~500MB csv file to the Flexmonster component in 2 different browsers, Chrome and Firefox. Chrome ran out of memory, and using Firefox can display the data successfully. How can I pass more data when using Chrome?
Thanks,
Leo

Hello Leo,

Thank you for contacting us.

If you want to work with a large data set, we recommend using Flexmonster Data Server - a special server-side tool implementing the custom data source API. It is responsible for fetching data from a data source, processing, and aggregating it. Then the data is passed to Flexmonster Pivot in a ready-to-show format. The Data Server significantly reduces data loading time and enables analyzing large datasets.
Flexmonster Data Server supports CSV and JSON data sources as well as different databases.
The Data Server can process files more than 1GB — the maximum file size depends on your RAM capacity and the number of unique members in the dataset.
The detailed guide you can find in our documentation: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/getting-started-with-data-server/
You can find more information about Flexmonster Data Server and other data sources with their comparison on this page: https://www.flexmonster.com/blog/how-to-choose-the-best-data-source-to-use-with-flexmonster/

We hope it helps. You are welcome to contact us in case other questions arise.

Kind regards,
Nadia
