How to use Flexmonster Data Server in backend side?

Answered
Jean Teran asked on August 8, 2024

Hi I would like to know if is possible use the Flexmonster Data Server from the backend side to generate the report data source, I'm not sure if I'm  reading good your documentation, but I saw that it needs to be installed/configured in the customer computer?

We are handling a big size of data and the flexmonster is taking to long time in the "Analyzing data %" process.

Hello Jean,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Flexmonster Data Server does not need to be installed on the customer's computers. For example, it can be hosted on various cloud platforms.

We also want to mention that when using Flexmonster Data Server, all the data is saved into the RAM of the machine where it is installed. From our experience, the Data Server tends to use 200%-300% of memory compared with the original file size. You can find more information in our documentation: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/intro-to-flexmonster-data-server/.

Additionally, could you please specify which view type you use (compact/classic or flat)?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Nadia

Hello Jean,

Thank you for the response.

To work with a large amount of data, we recommend using Flexmonster Data Server, our server-side tool, which can process files of more than 1 GB. It has built-in support for JSON and CSV data sources and can help browsers handle much bigger files. While the Data Server is fetching and aggregating the data, Flexmonster Pivot gets only to visualize the ready-to-show data. Thus, the data is visualized faster, and the load on the browser is reduced.

Please check the following guide for more details: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/getting-started-with-data-server/

You are welcome to contact us if further questions arise.

Kind regards,
Nadia

A quick question, taking in account that is possible that maybe 500 customers tries to open 5 reports rendering different kind of reports Charts, Tables with filters (maybe 1.5M records) at the same time in certain hours of day, what I might wait of Flexmonster Data Server regarding performance and speed? taking in account that I could use a Kubernetes server to locate this FMDS.

Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Since Flexmonster Data Server provides caching mechanisms, there will be no issues with performance and speed while loading multiple reports. You are welcome to check the details about data storage settings in our documentation: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/admin-panel-guide/#settings. If you are using Flexmonster Data Server as a console application, please refer to the following guide: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/configurations-reference/#DataStorageOptionsObject

Please let us know if it works for you. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Nadia
