Allowing to overwrite saved favorites

Answered
Gennady Gandelman asked on February 16, 2021

Greetings,

This is only a suggestion for what could be a useful feature. It definitely would be to our users. We let them choose years to include data for. They often apply additional customization and save their reports as favorites. When a new year rolls in, they'd like to be able to reflect it in those saved reports. There is no problem running the report, selecting the new year and saving it but the issue is that that they cannot utilize the same name. So they have to name their favorite something else, then delete the old favorite, maybe resave the new favorite with the old name now that it's available, delete the other one. Extra steps would be prevented if they could be asked whether they would like to overwrite favorite. The prompt could read "This name already exists. Replace your saved favorite?" with the options to replace and cancel.

Thank you

Hello, Gennady,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We want to ask for some additional details about the issue you are facing.
If we understand correctly, the user can apply some specific filtering (filtering by years in your example) and save the configuration in some storage.
The main issue is that the user is unable to modify the existing report. Instead, the user needs to save the modified configuration in the new file, delete the previous report, and rename the recently saved configuration to match the initial name.

If so, please let us know what kind of storage is used in your case (for example, user's machine, centralized server, database, etc.).
Also, specify the currently used approach to retrieve and save the configuration (for example, the "Save" button on the Toolbar, save API call, getReport API call, etc.).

These details would allow us to find the most suitable approach to override existing files for your case.

Our team is looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Illia

Illia,

Please ignore this. My apologies, I should've checked with my team first. They made it clear to me that what I'm asking for is within the scope of our own customizations.

Thank you
