Excel Export Performance Issue with Large Datasets (200K+ Rows)

Answered

We are experiencing significant performance issues when exporting reports to Excel using Flexmonster.

Issue Description:

When the dataset contains 200000 rows or more, the export process takes an unusually long time (approximately 30 minutes or more) to complete and download. For larger datasets (100K+ rows), the export time increases significantly and sometimes does not complete within expected time limits.

Hello Nagaraj,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We want to explain that exporting to Excel can take longer if the user switches to another tab or minimizes the browser window. Since modern browsers automatically limit resource usage for background tabs to optimize system performance and battery consumption, the export process may be throttled when the tab is inactive. For optimal performance, we recommend keeping the export tab active and the browser window open until the export completes.

Also, we suggest exporting to CSV, which will take less time. The CSV can then be imported into Excel.

Please let us know if it works for you. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Nadia
