Hi support, we are currently trialling the pivot grid, for an unlimited perpetual distribution, and I am looking at the end user experience. When data is plotted as a Scatter chart, it is not possible to place one of the values fields in the Columns section and another in the Rows section, this means that the Scatter chart is not correctly plotted.
It is possible to place the Values field in the Columns section and to place another measure into the Row section, but this results in the measure being converted to a dimension with discrete values (as you would expect). The result of this is a chart that looks like a Scatter chart, but because one measure is not plotted, it is actually a Line chart with just the points, not the lines showing (see Flexmonster Scatter Chart.jpg). The desired scatter chart format is as per Scatter Chart Example.bmp, where both axes are values that increase from 0.
In order to correctly plot a Scatter Chart I think that it will need to be possible to split the values field so that one measure is placed in the columns section and another in the rows section.
Is this the expected behaviour and if so, is it possible to adjust this? I don't believe there are any options to customise chart behaviour.
Many thanks,
Jules
Hello Julian,
Thank you for your question. Yes, you are right, for now, the scatter chart works the way you have described it. Right now, it is more like the Line chart with the points. If you need this type of chart you can try the integration with the 3-part chat libraries such as Highcharts, FusionCharts and Google Charts. Here is the example - https://jsfiddle.net/flexmonster/gdnxwaj1/. Speaking of the Flexmonster Pivot Component charts, we have some plans on improving this functionality. It requires reworking the existing approach which is rather time-consuming task. Therefore the ETA is not settled yet.
Please let us know if this feature is critical for you.
Best regards,
Dmytro.
